Seagull Concerns

Following concerns from parishioners regarding issues with Seagulls this is the advice from Natural England

I am emailing following your recent correspondence with the Natural England Customer Engagement Team which concerned issues caused by large gulls and the possibility of obtaining a licence that permitted action against them.

Further to this the situation is as follows. If an individual wished to undertake action against Gulls, such as the replacement of live eggs with artificial ones, it would be necessary to apply for a licence.  Apply for an individual licence to kill, take or disturb wild birds (A08 or A09) – GOV.UK. Any application received would be assessed as necessary and a licence decision issued in due course.

Natural England Wildlife Licensing is solely responsible for the initial assessment of applications received, and subsequent on-going administration of any licences issued. If a person wished to obtain further information regarding the actual undertaking of licenced works, or advice about the implementation of non-lethal scaring and which methods maybe suitable to their circumstances, it would be appropriate to contact a suitably qualified individual in the first instance (such as a local pest control officer or specialist wildlife ecologist).

If you have any further queries concerning Bird Licensing, please contact Natural England using the details a shown below.

Kind regards
