We Are of This Place: A Month-Long Celebration of People, History, and Landscape

LISKEARD & LOOE – The East and West Looe Valleys are set to come alive this April with We Are of This Place, a unique month-long festival celebrating the deep connections between people, history, and the landscape of this remarkable region. Through an inspiring program of events, exhibitions, and activities, the festival will highlight the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of the valleys, bringing communities together to share their stories and creativity.

A key highlight of the festival is’ Blossom Liskeard’ Arts and Crafts Exhibition and Sale, where talented local artists and makers will showcase their work on Saturday 12 April 12 – 4pm at the Liskeard Public Hall. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of handcrafted pieces, from paintings and textiles to ceramics and woodwork, all inspired by the spirit of Cornwall.

Be inspired at the FREE screening of the Nationally renowned Film “6 inches of Soil”, followed by an Expert Panel discussion, on Friday 11 April, from 7pm at St Keyne Village Hall. It tells the story of British Farmers standing up against the industrial food system and transforming the way they produce food – to heal the soil, benefit our health and provide for local communities.

Get involved with the Beach Clean at Hannafore on 13 April at 12 – 1.30pm – all equipment provided.

Children will enjoy the FREE Piskey Path Puppet Show at Liskeard & District Museum on Monday 7 April at 11am brought to you by Mazed Tales.

In addition to these events, the festival will offer guided walks, storytelling sessions, live performances, and hands-on workshops, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re a resident of the Looe Valleys or a visitor looking to discover the area’s cultural and natural treasures, We Are of This Place is an unmissable celebration of creativity, history, and community spirit.
